Numerical simulation with hardening soil model parameters of marine clay obtained from conventional tests

Abstract Over the last decades, numerical modelling has gained practical importance in geotechnical engineering as a valuable tool for predicting problems. An accurate prediction of ground deformation is achieved if models that account pre-failure behaviour soil are used. In this paper, laboratory results consolidated drain (CD) triaxial compression tests and one-dimensional consolidation marine clay were used to determine hardening model (HSM) parameter use Plaxis 3D analyses. The parameters investigated HSM stiffness, strength advanced parameters. stiffness secant CD test ( $$E_{50}^{\text{ref}}$$ E 50 ref ), tangent primary oedometer loading $$(E_{\text{oed}}^{\text{ref}} )$$ ( oed ) , unloading/reloading $$(E_{\text{ur}}^{\text{ref}}$$ ur ) power stress-level dependency (m). effective cohesion $$c_{\text{ref}}^{\text{'}}$$ c ' angle internal friction $$\phi^{\text{'}}$$ ? dilatancy $$\psi^{\text{'}}$$ ? ).
